Miniatures for Solo Piano was composed to represent three miniature things: a miniature horse (a Shetland pony), a doll house, and a clown car. “Shetland” attempts to capture the energy and playfulness of the animal, and “Dollhouse” is meant to convey a childlike wonder and innocence. Just as the number of clowns exiting a clown car never seems to end, so does the number of potential endings of “Clown Car.”
