This composition was written for my good friend, Justin Hundley, and the 940 Dance Company. As the title suggests, the piece is based around the number six. There are six instruments, six dancers, six formal sections, and the melodic and harmonic material comes from a set of six notes. However, this is not overly mathematical music. The number six was merely a jumping-off point for creating musical ideas. The intervals of the tritone (six half-steps) and major and minor sixths are prominent elements of the composition that are used extensively.
